Dunbar/Spring Neighborhood Foresters work party this Saturday at 11th Ave and 1st St
Date
This Saturday, Dec. 16th, 8am we'd love your help helping neighbors as we work to weed, plant, and prune the traffic circle and chicanes at or near 11th Ave and 1st Street.
We are doing so because:
- If we don't, city-hired crews will likely clearcut or herbicide the perennial vegetation we want to grow
- Surrounding neighbors have stepped up to help water new plantings to get them established
If we get winter rains, the planting of winter-germinating native wildflower seed now will rzesult in a spring wildflower show
NOTE: If you are willing to commit to stewarding a traffic circle or chicane in your part of the neighborhood, we'll help you with similar organized work parties too! Let me know if you are interested in this.
In addition, this Saturday we'll even widen some of the public right-of-way footpaths to the city-required (and more pedestrian-friendly) width of 5 feet.
Bring
- Tools such as shovels, gloves, hard rakes, and wheelbarrows (we'll have tools for those that lack them)
