Letter of support for safe street mini-grant application for traffic circles at 11th Ave and 2nd St, 11th Ave and 4th St, and 10th Ave and 5th St
Brad and Brendan presented a PDF outlining potential traffic calming options including speed humps and chicanes and identifying which streets have the highest level of neighborhood support and which may be most in need of these measures. Brad will share additional documentation with the neighborhood providing more detail on the proposed projects, including the level of approval received for each street. Michael raised a question about whether a vote should take place at this time given some of the discussion on the neighborhood listserv. It was ultimately agreed that enough of the individual projects had already received sufficient support from directly affected neighbors to proceed with a vote on a letter of neighborhood support.
It was also clarified that no funding has yet been secured for any of the proposed traffic calming measures. However, showing neighborhood support allows projects to be placed on funding lists sooner and may improve their chances of receiving funding. The proposed projects already have the required support from directly affected neighbors to move forward once funding is secured, a letter of neighborhood support is helpful in the funding process.
