- Discussion
- Potluck, scheduled for October 24, 5:30 pm, at El Grupo at 9th and 5th: We need to have better advertising. Andy will design flyer, Karen will print it out, Christy and Natasha will walk them through the ‘hood.
- Google Meet Subscription Renewal: Needs to be connected to our google account; currently on Thomas’ credit card so that we need to change that. The price of Google meet, the tool we use for virtual meetings and document storage increased by $2 a month in 2025 (from $12 to $14). It looks like the price is $182.52 for the year. Voted all in favor to have a special un-notified vote (since the word VOTE was not on the agenda), and another vote of all in favor to continue subscription.
- Progressive bike channels in speed bumps: Andy will talk to City requesting as we repave the neighborhood that we will include more of these. Natasha asked if there was a specific schedule for repaving. Sky also has many questions about tree trimming, and that the repaving takes into account water harvesting features in the neighborhood. Aliyah will follow up. We are interested in having the landscaping, construction and City organizations in charge come to the October meeting.
- Q+A with Ward 1 Rep (Aliyah Cardenas): What to do about trash on new bridge on 9th? Click on 311. Is Church really going to be a bike boulevard? It is super awkward and is in really bad shape.
- Q+A with District 5 Rep Arianna Martinez: she asked what roads we think are in particularly bad shape for the bike community for RTA2 funding. For example, Sky mentioned 4th Ave north of Broadway, which is supposed to be an official Bike Boulevard, as well as Treat. It might be a nice partnership for City and County. Highlights: First Love of Lectura (free events with local authors, as well giving books out at schools, as well as mini-events); free tickets go quickly. There will be Free Little Libraries going up in five neighborhoods near the jail. Arnie Bermudez is a new member of our team who will be creating newsletters. Neighborhood meetings will be helping with association presidents to connect. Collected 600,000 pounds of trash out of Santa Cruz, but will continue to try and keep trash out of our washes. Karen had suggestions for other local authors that would appeal to a broader audience. Sky asked about a Southwest El Paso Greenway in Barrio Anita. Claire suggested a new trilingual book about the Santa Cruz River. Congress is going to get closed down on Halloween for safety concerns. The routes for the Christmas Parade will be going through El Presidio neighborhood.
- Reports from the field
- Downtown Links: Discussed earlier
- 1st St and 11th Ave Housing development: A public meeting was held recently, and the groups were voted upon; no neighborhood members are on the selection committee. Karen thought the ideas brought up were very exciting and cool.

- For the good of the cause - future topics: None
- Next meeting: October 19, 2026
- Adjourn: 8:18 pm
